About the Drawings
The drawings start by searching for the right piece of stone. It's not uncommon to go through 100 different pieces of slate only to find a couple that may work. I look for pieces that have several elevations because I feel the natural texture lends an element of sculpture and depth which compliments the drawing style. The drawing is usually done on the lowest elevation using a very small fine tip permanent pen, one dot at a time, most commonly referred to as stipple. A way I like to describe it is if you were to peel away enough layers of stone you would eventually uncover the rest of the image. Each piece is an original. The presentation and custom framing is first class. Stone sizes range from 12" x 12" to as large as 16" x 16". Prices currently range from $2250 to $3800.
